2024 in review...

In May 2018 I set up a facebook page to sell some candles for South Ayrshire School Clothing Bank and its hard to believe that was 6 years ago!

Kindness & Co has grown over the years, very organically as its still not my day job so it's grown to fit with that and maintain my sanity.  Sometimes I get the balance right, some times I don't but I can honestly say I still absolutely love making my products.

There has been a shift this year, in part due to it being my 50th year so lots of time for reflection.  When I starting working on the Angel Mums candle it reminded me of the impact the candles can have - we sold 73 candles in Q2 which was the most candles I'd sold in 2024 so far.  It reminded me that

product + cause = wonderful impact

and that is what Kindness & Co set out to do.  I'm not the greatest on Social Media, I should do more posts - create more content but its not really me and I'm not good at it...however when I'm working in partnership with the charity and they are posting about the products and the impact the purchase makes...that resonates with the buyers and its works beautifully as Angel Mums reminded me.

I already have some plans brewing for 2025, not exactly sure of all the details but here is what I do know, I will be spending more time in my workshop - making candles as that's the bit I love.

Oh actually on that note let me tell you a wee story.  In September this year our eldest was really poorly - her appendix ruptured...but with her gynae complications we had a very scary few days in hospital, moments where her future fertility were at risk as she also had a cyst on her ovary.  During that time I got an email from Liberty London saying the pre-sale of their advent calendar was now online...feeling a bit weary and fed up with the world Emily and I decided Alan would probably want to buy me this for my Christmas!  Its not something I would normally splurge on but its beautiful and I've absolutely loved it.  However Day 3 was a small candle...I lit it and was really disappointed as the flame was concerningly high.  Today I received an email from Liberty London saying there had been safety concerns with the candle and I was to dispose of it!!  Candle making isn't easy and even the biggest and best sometimes get it wrong.

So this year closes with Kindness & Co now having 10 charity candles, #CandlesWithACause is making its way into the world and honestly each and every charity is so important to me.  I already have plans for 2 new charities in 2025, exciting times ahead for K&Co.

I will be updating the Social Impact in early January but for now Thank you to everyone who has purchased and supported me this year, its hugely appreciated.

Nicola xx
